The livelihood intervention of Livolink foundation is spread across three state i.e Odisha, Assam and Manipur while the focus is on the Southern, Western and Northern regions of Odisha, through three major programs of System of Rice Intensification (SRI), South Odisha Initiative (SOI), and Diversion Based Irrigation (DBI). The first phase of South Odisha Initiative has come to an end in February 2018. Therefore, a comprehensive livelihoods strategy has been developed for Odisha while integrating the learning and positive outcomes of SRI, DBI and SOI programs. The project is directly implemented by Livolink foundation and aims to enhance the household income of 12,000 families by 100% and 1300 families to a level of Rs. 75,000 per annum.
Some of the key strategic intervention are as follows-
- Promoting System of Crop Intensification for productivity enhancement
- Facilitating Systematic approach to research and adaptation of System of Rice Intervention through multi locational research trials
- Irrigation though diversion based irrigation and pond desilting for enhancing cropping intensity and income generation
Promoting high value vegetables and orchard crops for income enhancement
The intervension is spread over 5 blocks of Muniguda, Bissam Cuttack, TH Rampur, Lanjigarh and Kotagarh in the most backward districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
Till date more than 60,000 Household were covered under various livelihood intervention. Provided technical support to promote 575 integrated vegetable model generating an average annual income of more than Rs. 40,000 under the DBI and SOI program.
Livolink foundation has facilitated coverage of more than 10,000 acres of land under Scientific package of practises through System of crop intensification technology. Supported partner organization to develop 47 Diversion based irrigation structure and a gross command area of more than 20,000 acres were developed for the new as well as completed structures.
